Below you will find the style this site will use for its Player Characters. You don't need to put too much information in any one section; just enough to be thorough and complete.
The style will be explained first, before a code is listed below. When making your character, copy from the code, not the explanation. Also, if your character has a familiar, you may wish to fill out the profile - or any applicable pieces of it - for your familiar.
When creating your character, please keep these guidelines in mind.
Without further ado, here it is:
Player: What you, the player, wish to be called by your fellow players. This does not have to be a real name. Indeed, we suggest you do not use your real name. Please be consistent over multiple characters.
Contact: An email or messenger address you wish for your fellow players to contact you at as needed. This is not necessary, but might be useful for some people.
Intentions: State whether you intend your character to be a hero, neutral, or a villain. This choice will factor into the acceptability of a character.
Background
Name: Self-explanatory (Unknown is acceptable, but substitute a major nickname instead)
Race: Which category your character falls under - Common, Variant or Greater.
Please be aware that the Greater Races are restricted to players who have previously demonstrated good writing and RPing skills. If you're a newcomer, you might want to try for the Common or Variant races first.
Species: Which type of creature your character is explicitly - such as a wolf, an elf, a stone elemental, a regular human, etc.
Age: Self-explanatory (Unknown is acceptable, but substitute how old your character looks)
Tier: What Tier your character is. A number is sufficient.
Social
Place of Birth: Self-explanatory (Unknown is acceptable, but substitute where your character grew up.)
Allegiances: Which government or organizations (official or otherwise) does your character support or are actively a member in
Aspirations: What your character wants or plans to do in the future ('Nothing' is only acceptable for truly apathetic characters)
Nicknames: What your character tends to be called by others, or likes to call themselves
Titles: What your character is officially called by a government or organization
Relatives: Who your character is related to, including PCs if any
Significant Other: Who your character is dating, married, or similarly connected to, including PCs if any
Mental
Personality: Self-explanatory. Please include one or more paragraphs on this topic.
Likes: Self-explanatory. This can be in paragraph or list format.
Dislikes: Self-explanatory. This can be in paragraph or list format
Strengths: What your character is socially or mentally good at. This can be in paragraph or list format.
Weaknesses: What your character is socially or mentally bad at. Explicit fears should be listed here. This can be in paragraph or list format.
Physical
Major Details: What major details define your character's appearance, including things like eye color, hair color, skin color, and any similar major feature that can be noticed at a glance. This can be in paragraph of list format.
Appearance: Self-explanatory. A more thorough look at your character, please include one or more paragraphs on this topic.
Natural Abilities: What your character is physically capable, including such things as speed or strength. Generalizing is usually better than being too specific.
Natural Traits: What special or unique features your character has from their biology, such as wings, claws, amphibious lungs, etc. This can overlap with Major Details.
Strengths: What your character is physically good at. This can be in paragraph or list format.
Weaknesses: What your character is physically bad at. This can be in paragraph or list format.
Magical
Specializations: Beneath here, list what Specializations your character has taken at each successive tier.
- Tier 1: List each one in the following way: Form (Specialization), Proficiency # (see the section on Choosing Specializations for more information). If your Specialization is not automatically clear as to what it entails, remember to describe it in further detail afterward.
- Tier 2: Continue to do the same for each Tier your character has.
- Tier 3: etc
- Tier 4: etc
- Tier 5: etc
Visual Display: What visual details accompany your character's use of magic, such as a magical glow, seal, or other phenomena that has no impact on combat/the surroundings.
Special Abilities: What Special Abilities your character has taken
Bonus Special Abilities: What bonus Special Abilities your character has gained from their race
Unique Abilities: What unique magical abilities your character has. This is only applicable to certain racial categories, like Fey, Magical Beasts, and the like.
Strengths: What your character is magically good at. This can be in paragraph or list format.
Weaknesses: What your character is magically bad at. This can be in paragraph or list format.
Inventory
Mundane: List what common, nonmagical items your character carries with them most (if not all) of the time. You don't need to describe your character's clothes, but if you expect them to wear a certain outfit most of the time, you may want to do that anyway.
Magical: List what magical items your character carries with them most (if not all) of the time. Keep in mind the maximum limitations for magical items. List each one in the following way:
Name (or just what it's called) - Which form, Written or Material (or both) it uses (What kind of enchantment - Perpetual, Activated, Charged, etc - it uses). Physical description. Magical description.
You can be as detailed as you want for each magic item, but a few sentences is enough. For example, a magic sword could be
Sunblade - Written (Activated). A longsword forged from light, reflective metals, with an image of the sun engraved on the blade. The hilt is a gold affair, with further symbols for sun and light etched into it. When the sword is raised up to the sky, the blade will begin to give off pure white light. This light can brightly illuminate 20 feet from the blade and lasts until sheathed.
History
Describe your character's life history. You can be as detailed or thorough as you want, but you must include at least a few paragraphs worth of text to be complete. The player should gradually add more information as the character progresses in game, but try not to retcon your character's past unless it is absolutely necessary. Important details may be kept from the public for the sake of a plot twist/dramatic tension, but must still be shared with the admins in private.
